Games like Tekken and DOA are just as important. These games take hours of practice to master the style and moves of each games. It also fun to fantasize you kicking the teeth out of the jerk down the street while playing. If you are not as serious a gamer, then you can just casually play as well.

DoA is actually not that great of a franchise. Most of the gimmick is: half-naked women, big boobs, and grunting. Yeah, great. Only other thing they had going was the grappling system.
Tekken isn't as realistic as, say, Virtua Fighter, but it has better graphics and more fast-paced action (probably more characters, too). Virtua Fighter, now that's a great fighting game.
I truly prefer the Soul Caliber franchise over all those others mentioned before, even Mortal Combat.
I also cannot STAND the Budokai games...They just plain suck.
