Google's subpeona

Apparently the US Government is requesting Google's logs of searches ran during a one week period as well as 1 million random addresses from thier databases.  Full article here.

Google's refused.

As long as personal information was stripped from the files, I honestly don't see a problem.  And Google would make sure there was no personal information attached.  But do we really want the governemnt monitering search engines?

Thoughts?  Additional articles?

Less trying to flaunt, more trying to keep everything under their control.  Reminds me of Big Brother, honestly.  But, at least they're not excusing this one by saying "TERRORISTS! OMFG!!!!!!!1111oneone".
